My Production Reflection
1. What is the storyline of your production?
The legend is about the maori legend of the southern alps. It includes Aoraki , Rakirua, Rakiroa and Rarakiroa. When they were called by their father Rangi to go out and sail when they crash into a reef. Then they slowly turn into mountains. Tu and their mokopuna got worried and started to search for them. The wind was blowing so they decided to make a windbreak to shelter from the wind. Tu sat in his canoe and twisted until the land split. Henenuiitepo , Rangi and Papa heard all the noise. Tu asked Rangi to help him. Rangi lifted the smaller mountains as if they were pebbles but the bigger mountains were harder to lift. When Rangi finally lifted the mountains trees and flowers sprang up. Henenuiitepo was so happy that she gave Tu a sandfly to keep the people moving.
2. Who are the actors and who are the backstage hands who make the props?
The characters in our production are:
Aoraki (Latham)
Rakirua (Creedence)
Rakiroa (Cyprus)
Rarakiroa (Thomas)
Rangi (Halaino)
Papa (Lavinia)
Hene Nui I Te Po (Fine)
Narrator (Angel)
Tu (Patrick)
Mokopuna (Jasmine, Ohsmar, Caitlin, Samantha)
3. What role is room five taking in this school production? What is the landform?
Room fives landform is the Southern Alps.
4. What props need to be made or completed?
The only prop that needs to be finished is Tu’s waka which just needs the water.
5. How are you making the costumes and other props? What are they made of?
The costumes we have made out of recyclable material so in the end we don’t have to create another landfill and pollute the environment more than it already is.
6. Do people who are learning their lines need more practice or are they making good progress?
I think that the speakers do not need more practice so they can take in feedback to improve their performance.
7. Are actors using both their voices and bodies to show expression?
The actors are sometimes using both their voices and bodies but I feel that they can still improve.
8. What needs to be improved?
We need to improve on projecting our voices and not getting distracted, but otherwise we are doing very well.
