Today, at 11:30, right after the year seven and eight’s arrived back from Tech. We were told by Mrs Anderson to only eat our morning tea and not play. It was because of a special ceremony remembering the New Zealanders that died at Gallipoli 100 years ago all because of their Sergeants getting shot by Turkish snipers. Therefore, the orders weren’t passed on so every soldier didn’t know what to do, causing most of them to get killed or injured, and even then, because they were surrounded they couldn’t even get to the infirmary to get treated! When Abdurrahman and I arrived to do the music, Miss Kirkpatrick said that she would do it because we didn’t have much time to practice and she wanted it to be perfect. So that meant that Abdurrahman and I had stayed up to about 12:00 writing what we were going to do down on a document for nothing! At least we wouldn’t have embarrassed ourselves by accidentally mucking it up. When we were all sitting down Mr Johnston and a woman in military clothes (Mr Johnston introduced her as Staff Sergeant Stacy). Patrick and Wiremu then put up the flag as Miss Kirkpatrick played the tune called The last stand. Mr Johnston and Staff Sergeant Stacy then gave speeches and then Miss Kirkpatrick then played rouse as Wiremu and Patrick put the flag up. Everybody went back to class but then Miss Kirkpatrick called us into Room 5 so Staff Sergeant Stacy could tell us about what she did. She explained that she was from Papatoetoe and she had joined when she was 19. She had then done missions to get her medals. Finally she left and everyone had lunch.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson, and Ms Kirkpatrick.

My first experience on the moon
As soon as I took a step out the rocket, I felt weightless. I took a giant leap and sailed off the steps, doing front flips in the air. I righted myself and looked around. I sighed. Just a few craters and not an alien in sight. Maybe next time.

Incredible Trees
I scuttled towards the tree, covering myself as much as I could. The leaves made a canopy over me, protecting me from the harsh weather above. Hail rained down around me as I futilely tried to dodge the frozen missiles. A rustling sound came to my attention and I stared in amazement as leaves free-falled, eliminating the final barrier between my body and the harsh weather. I crashed through the bushes as hail pelted my body, stinging and making me wince.

Maui and the sun
retold by Reon and Thomas
Once upon a time there was a man called Maui. Everyday they worked hard to build their village but the sun went too fast for them to do their work . Maui decided to do something about it. He gathered his brothers and made some ropes out of flax to snare the sun when it was waking up.So maui and his brothers marched to the sun’s home and when the sun was wakeing up maui and his brothers threw!!! the ropes onto the sun and maui and his brothers were torturing the sun and the sun said “LEAVE ME ALONE PLEASE!!!’’ but maui said “I will stop if you move slower in the day so I have time to build my village.” then the sun started to move slower in the day and they had enough time to make their village and everyone was happy except for the sun.Monday, 21 July 2014
What I did in the Holidays
In the holidays I stayed at my house and played on the Xbox. My username is Grady and my brother's names are Miner and Player 1. We played on Mine Craft Xbox 360 edition. On one of our worlds we have Diamond Swords and I have a Bow and Arrow. We put the settings on easy and then we wait until it is nighttime. When it is nighttime the monsters spawn in and we kill them. My favorite mob is the creeper. A creeper is a green monster with four legs, no arms and a sad face. They explode when you get too close so the only way to kill them is to use a bow. When you kill a creeper you get gunpowder and you can craft TNT using 5 gunpowder and 4 sand. When Daniels friend Sylis moved close to us Daniel asked if he could stay over because it was Sylis's birthday. Daniel came back the next day with leftover cake and lollies.
