Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1 Activity 1

Day 1 Activity 1 - Choosing a country
I have chosen Germany in Europe because it is a country that has very little similarities between New Zealand and it, as well as the language not being to different, since it is part of Europe and German uses the same alphabet.

Hi Thomas!

I am so happy to see that you have joined our Summer Learning Journey this year. It's fabulous news!

I really like that you have chosen to explore Germany, as well. It's a truly fascinating country. I had the chance to spend some time in Munich and Berlin over the past decade and they are both cities rich in history, stunning architecture, delicious food and great museums/parks. I think that you will really enjoy travelling through Germany and learning all about the country as you go.

I am so pleased to see that you've chosen to blog with us, even though you're heading to college next year. Blogging over the summer really will help you to prepare for the reading/writing challenges that await you in Year 9.

Awesome effort,

Rachel

Guten tag Thomas,

Thank you so much for joining the Summer Learning Journey programme. It is great to have you on board and blogging with us for the next few weeks! I'm really looking forward to following your learning journey around Germany.

My name is Dan and I'm working alongside Rachel and Mark over the summer. I'm lucky enough to be able to read your blogs and I'll be leaving comments as I go. If you want to reply to my comments then please do! I'd love to know what you think, or if you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

I like that you've chosen Germany for your Summer Learning Journey. It has such an intriguing history which will be so much fun to learn all about! Their language is definitely interesting, do you speak any German at all?

It's always good to want to learn more and to keep an open mind about different countries and cultures. What are some of the things you might like to do or see when you visit Germany? I think I would be most excited to try all of their delicious food!

Thanks for starting your learning journey Thomas, I'm looking forward to catching up on all of the progress you've made.

Cheers,
Dan.
