Holiday Reading Challenge: Sidekick
Title: Monkey Boy
Author of book: Donovan Bixley
Type of book: Fiction, Naval
How you're sidekick helped the main character:
"The French are coming!" The shout spread like wildfire. The sound of boots slamming against the boards was deafening. Jimmy walked towards his cannon station unworried. He knew Jake wouldn't disappoint. He reached his cannon crew, and a furry object flew towards him, a bag of gunpowder clutched in one of its hands. His monkey handed it to him, and he gave it to the cannon loader, who rammed it down, quickly followed by a lead ball. Then he lit the fuse and a few seconds later the deafening BOOM! sounded, followed by a smashing sound and cheers from everyone on board.
Above decks later:
"Did you see that men! The French ship down and not a single casualty! We have this monkey and the monkey boy, Jimmy tom thank for that!" The crew cheered three times: "Jimmy! Jimmy! Jimmy! Jimmy!" and hoisted him and Jake (his monkey, of course) on top of their shoulders. Right then he felt like the king of the world.

Holiday reading challenge: Book recomendation
The book I am recommending: White Fang
Who I am recommending it to: Mengchun
Why I am recommending it (3 reasons): I would recommend this book to Mengchun for these reasons:
This is my recommendation for the holiday reading challenge activity called: Make a recommendation. For this activity, as you see above, we have to choose a book, recommend it to someone and then explain why recommended it to that person in the form of three reasons.
Who I am recommending it to: Mengchun
Why I am recommending it (3 reasons): I would recommend this book to Mengchun for these reasons:
- She likes books that are Non-Fiction
- She reads books that have animals in it
- It isn't too long (like Narnia) but it isn't like a year 3 length book either. This means that you cannot sit there for like, 1 second and be finished and yet you cannot sit there and read it for 24 hours straight, if you know what I mean.
