Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 3 Activity 1

For this activity we have to watch 2 videos on plane safety with the idea of getting some ideas on how to be safe on a plane. I learnt that when the plane is going to crash if there is a seat in front of you then you lean forward and put your head against their seat with your hands in between the seat and your head, while if you have nobody in front of you then you lean until your head is in front of your knees and then put your hands on your head as well. I also learnt that when the plane hits the water you pull a life jacket out from under your seat, pull the red seal off and put the jacket on, only inflating it once you're in the water and blowing into the pipe if it doesn't inflate enough.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 2 Bonus Activity

For this activity we have to write whether we have gone to Wellington, and if so, some things we enjoyed doing there, or if we haven't some things that we would like to do there. I haven't been to Wellington yet (emphasis on yet), but from what I can see on the site I would like to go to Te Papa, because it has exhibits about Maori, our native people, and also because they have created something called Bug Lab which seems very interesting. Another place I would like to go to would be to go to the Mount Victoria Lookout, to check out Wellingtons scenery from high above.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 2 Activity 2

For this activity we have to decide whether we think Bull fighting should be banned in Spain. I think it should be banned, because both the person and the bull could get hurt. For instance, if the Bull ran straight into the person running around and stabbed them, everybody would be angry or sad that they got injured, but if the Bull got hurt by running into the side of the arena nobody would care. This shows that how the Bull feels about the sport is not taken into account. Another reason is that nowhere else in the world holds Bull fighting as a sport, except for Spain, showing that maybe the other countries think it's a bad idea, which is why they don't do it.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 2 Activity 1

For this activity I have to find out some facts on the country I have chosen, which is Germany. The name of the capital city is Berlin, the Population of Berlin is 3.5 million people, in Berlin the weather is usually cold in January, Berlin is located in the North East (top right) of Germany and the languages mostly spoken in Berlin are German, English, and Russian.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1 Bonus Activity

For the bonus activity this time it was to write a letter to a family member telling them about how we're going to visit the country we have chosen and maybe even invite them. This is my letter:

Dear Grandmother,
I am writing to let you know that I am travelling to Germany, and from what I have found out so far it sounds like a very interesting place. It has had quite a lot of famous people born there, such as Beethoven, Bach and Einstein, all three famous people, Einstein for his genius and Beethoven and Bach for their music.
I hope that you can come and visit,
Thomas

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1 Activity 2

For this activity we have to research the country that we have chosen and listed some interesting facts about it. One fact was that Albert Einstein, who discovered the general theory of relativity, was born in Ulm in Germany. Another fact is that Ludwig van Beethoven the musical composer was also born in Germany, and also Germany is surrounded by nine other European countries.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 1 Activity 1

Day 1 Activity 1 - Choosing a country
I have chosen Germany in Europe because it is a country that has very little similarities between New Zealand and it, as well as the language not being to different, since it is part of Europe and German uses the same alphabet.
