Summer Learning Journey: Week 2, Day 7, Activity 3

For this activity I have to ask one of my family members what they like to do in the summer. I asked Daniel.

1. Watching movies
2. Going to the pool
3. Going to the beach
4. Go to the library
5. Lying in bed

Hi Thomas,

I made a perfect comment just before but I accidentally logged myself out. Now I'll just have to comment like this.

Nice interview with Daniel. Sounds like a relaxing and calm guy! Lies in bed sometimes (I sometimes do that...sometimes.), goes to the library, watches movies, goes to the beach...gosh, nice balance of holiday and school-like activities. School-like as in the library. The library ALWAYS has a good read that you'll never know you want until you get into the book!

Hi Thomas (and Willy!),

Firstly, I am sorry to read that your first comment was accidentally deleted, Willy. I have had that happen to me as well and it's so frustrating!

Secondly, I wanted to commend you, Thomas, for a great interview. It sounds like Daniel likes to do many of same things that I like to do, as well. I am a big fan of going to the beach over summer and I try to spend as much time there as possible. I grew up working as a lifeguard in Canada so I've always loved the water. I must admit that the ocean is a lot larger and more dangerous for swimming then the little pool that I worked at in Canada but I still enjoy doing in for a swim when I'm at an NZ beach (as long as it is on the east side of Auckland). I tried going swimming at Karekare, a beach on the west side of Auckland, but the waves were far too large and the current and rips were too strong! I didn't enjoy it very much...

Speaking of beaches, though, where do you and your family go when you head to the beach? Are there some nice beaches in your area?

I hope that you've had plenty of opportunity to hit the beach this summer. Fortunately, we still have 2 weeks before school starts so there is plenty of time to enjoy the sun, surf and sand before it's time to get back to the classroom!

Cheers,
Rachel
